Congress and Steroids

Senator John Mc Cain has come out saying that if professional sports leagues don't implement tougher drug testing for steroids and such then Congress should do something about it. This brings to mind one quick thought:

Tenth Amendment!
Tenth Amendment!
Tenth Amendment!
Tenth Amendment!
Tenth Amendment!

For those not familiar with the Constitution of the United States of America, the Tenth Amendment is one of the Bill of Rights. That means it's one of those things that had to be added to the Constitution before the original states would ratify that document. The Tenth says:

"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people"

Basically, that means that, unless the Constitution specifically says the federal government can do something, the federal government CANNOT do it.

I've read the Constitution a time or two and I don't recall anything about major league sports. Perhaps I should send a copy to the senator. Perhaps we all should send a copy to the senator. Hmm.
